Cellular Service, is it that hard to do? Roger’s wireless
Ok, so in November I signed up for this family plan with my mom and my brother. At the time they sent a txt message to my with details on how to activate you voicemail on the Roger’s wireless service. Well with Christmas, exams and a conference on the way, I didn’t really have time at the time to setup. I know it only takes a few minutes, but I didn’t even have time to shovel the driveway let alone activate my mailbox.
So in January, I no longer have the text message with the details and my Blackberry Pearl only holds that data for 30 days. So I thought it would be appropriate to call in and ask for my temporary password. I had A) ALL the account information. B) the account password C) I could answer any questions … but I am not the official account holder. So the gentleman wouldn’t help me.
Ok, if anyone at Roger’s ever listens to this. On a shared account, if the person has ALL of the information concerning the account and all they want is a simple temporary password to SETUP their voicemail, give it to them. It doesn’t make any sense to not do to privacy concerns… ok worst case, someone steals your phone and does what calls Rogers to setup an empty voicemail account. Seriously.
Now for anyone in a similar position to me:
The temporary password for Roger’s wireless is the last 4 digits of your phone number, or for web orders it is 1 + the last 4 digits. If your phone was mailed to you it could also be 1+month+day it was activated. So if you got your phone on October 4th, it would be 11004
If you have information for other providers, feel free to leave it in the comments for others.
