Back to Wifi

With the smartphone market showing year over year growth of 60+%, and the recent Iphone announcement likely to popularize WIFI, I see wifi becoming a huge driver for semiconductor sales.

AMD in trouble …

Well after a miserable first quarter with a giant loss, AMD looks like it is going to keep losing for the rest of 2008. ATI and AMD are both failing to perform and a miserably falling behind their competitors. AMD still does not have 65 nm products on sale in volume, and looks like it is just happy to live another day. Nvidia is dominating ATI in the discrete graphics market with AMD failing to release its latest generation of video on schedule. (more…)

Why I think GM has a future

Well unlike Ford and Chrysler, GM seems to be making progress. Their designs are improving to the point where several of their cars are competing for sector dominance. They are not as reliant on trucks and SUVs as the other 2 domestic makers and are minimizing exposure to the shrinking market. Unlike Ford, GM is actually researching their own hybrid technology instead of buying Toyota’s. Hybrid technology, maybe not in it’s current implementation, is here to stay and not developing that core competency is a mistake. (more…)

NAIAS 2007 – Go GM!

With a win for Car of the year with the Saturn Aura and Truck of the Year with the Silverado, this has been an excellent show for GM. It is good to see that a domestic manufacturer who has made big strides over the years get rewarded a bit. (more…)
